Alison Cryer, Managing Director
FTS, Chartered Marketer, Freeman of the Guild of PR Practitioners

Alison acquired First Public Relations from the company's founder, Fiona Gordon, in spring 2012, on Fiona's retirement. FPR, founded in 1985, is the UK's longest established specialist travel industry marketing and public relations consultancy.

Alison has over 30 years experience of international PR and marketing in the hotel, airline, tourism, leisure and lifestyle industries. She has worked for clients on all continents and from every aspect of the industry - inbound, domestic and outbound. Following 10 years in the hotel and tourism industry Alison set-up Representation Plus.

Formerly she was marketing manager worldwide for Copthorne Hotels, during which time she set up the hotel group's European sales and PR offices including France and Germany (for hotels in Europe, Africa and the Caribbean), having spent four years in hotel and restaurant management in France and Switzerland. She was actively involved in the re-branding of the Group for CHM and for the brand recognition it enjoyed as a result of a highly successful four year communications campaign and as a result Alison was one of the first 30 people to be awarded the prized Caterer and Hotelkeeper Acorn Award.

Alison is fluent in French and can speak German. Alison has served on several industry committees and boards and is the immediate past-Chairman of the Tourism Society and continues as an Executive Committee Board Member. She is a Fellow and former board director of the Institute of Travel and Tourism and one of the first Chartered Marketers of the Chartered Institute of Marketing and has an MA in Marketing. She is also a member of the Institute of Directors and a Freeman of the Guild of PR Practitioners.

In 2010 Alison won the Shine Award for leadership and in 2011 was named as one of the 100 most influential women in the UK's Hospitality, Leisure and Tourism Industry.
